How To Get An Avalanche of Traffic By Pay Per Click

By Sab Brookes

The way PPC works is really quite simple. You bid on the keywords related to your niche. You automatically appear in the search engines; your position based on the amount you bid, against the other bids for the same keyword. Obviously the higher the amount you bid, the better positioned your site will be in the search engines. The key to doing this properly is to do keyword research.

There are various ways of doing keyword research. My choice of method is visiting Spyfu website
This wonderful website gives you plenty of information, such as
• Related terms and concepts
• Average cost per click
• Organic results
• Current adwords ads
• Categories
• Terms others buy with your main term

As the website suggests,... the information given by it will help you 'spy' on your competition to see what works for them, so you can model that too. Another wonderful website is this: Another yet wonderful website at crazyegg tells you where you get your clicks on any page and which of your links were clicked on, giving you a good idea of what your visitors are doing in your website. To achieve success in your PPC campaign, you need to focus on specific elements of your PPC ads.

Firstly, your keywords:
Website visitors follow a specific order when searching for a product or information. First, they search for a single keyword. Then they search for two words. Next, they search for a product through related brand names. After that, they search for long tail keywords, that is, keywords containing more than 3 words, before they finally buy.

So in order to run a successful PPC campaign, you need to use long tail keywords that are more focused. Using long tail keywords will also mean you pay less per click, but the best part is, your conversion will skyrocket!

Next, you need to focus on your ad copy:
There are two specific parts of your ad copy that you need to focus on. The first part is using specific ads for every term you target (pg 11). Using that term in your ad will increase your click through rates. The second part is the ad itself. Your ad must be attractive to your potential customer. Google visitors do not click on the list appearing on their right - the PPC ads. So you need to test your ad copy to see if it is working. If it isn't, you need to change it.

There are two important words that attracts buyers: Review and Bonus. Use the word 'Review' for any niche and the word 'Bonus' for internet marketing niche.

PPC Search Engines you can use are google adwords, overture, findwhat, kanoodke and espotting.

You need to look out for:

1. The Ad costs - Set aside a budget specifically for your PPC campaign. Otherwise, you'll be rudely shocked by an ad bill costing you more than you can afford. All PPC programs come with a budgeting tool, where you can control your daily ad expenses.

2. Click Fraud - Click Fraud is when your competitors click on your ad, removing it once you have spent your daily budget, thus effectively, if unscrupulously, eliminating competition by you. The result? Their ad moves up in position, benefiting them at your cost. The search engines do their level best to prevent charging you for this unscrupulous act, but there is so much they can do.

3. Advertising companies. Although Google and Yahoo are super great search engines, they can cost you a lot in advertising dollars for competitive keywords. You may like to look for alternatives, like Exactseek, although it is not as good in terms of daily visitors. Use other alternative search engines like Exactseek and MSN if you are using highly competitive keywords that can cost you a bomb in Google or Yahoo.
